Description: The Delores Project is Denver’s largest provider of safe, comfortable shelter and individualized services for unaccompanied women and transgender individuals who are experiencing homelessness. Our model of service is one of hospitality, respect and regard for the dignity of each guest. We have seen an increase in demand for services from the deaf community. As communication is so critical in shelter services, we are seeking someone to assist in facilitating communication between staff and guests as well as guest to guest communication. Primary Responsibilities • Provide translation services during our twice weekly house meeting (Tuesdays and Fridays 7 pm to 8 pm). • We operate from 5 pm to 8 am Monday through Friday, and 24 hours on the weekend. If the volunteer desires, more time can be spent in the shelter to provide for communication between guests. • Maintain confidentiality of the shelter.

Requirements for volunteers: Required Skills and Experience • Fluent in ASL.
