Volunteer Opportunity

Field Trip Leader - Youth Environmental Education

Description: On Tuesdays – Fridays from 9am-12:30pm, volunteers will lead groups of students (ages ECE-6th grade) around Bluff Lake while discussing a variety of environmental education topics. Volunteers will need to be able to give a presentation to 15-35 students and chaperones; supervise kids and patiently answer their questions; work outside in all types of weather; stay on their feet for 2-3 hours; and walk up to 1 mile on easy to moderate terrain. Additional tasks will include an orientation session, familiarizing yourself with the programming, and regular communication with Bluff Lake staff about scheduling.

*Due to the training required to get you started, we strongly prefer that field trip volunteers can commit to at least one morning per week for an entire school semester.

Requirements for volunteers: You are NOT required to have teaching experience or an environmental science background–just plenty of energy and enthusiasm! We will provide all the lesson plans, materials, training, shadowing, and support you need. Spanish-speaking ability is appreciated, but NOT required.
